Kanab Canyon along the Arizona Strip

Kanab Canyon

Kanab Creek flows through Kanab Canyon and is one of the many tributaries of the Grand Canyon. It begins in Kane County, Utah, just south of the watershed to the Great Basin Desert and flows 125 miles (201 km) south to the Colorado River. It passes the town of Kanab, Utah, crossing the border to Arizona near the town of Fredonia. It flows through the Kaibab-Paiute Indian Reservation and the Kanab Creek Wilderness Area, before it drops into the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park.

Firefly Canyon is a smaller tributary of Kanab Canyon. This picture shows the type of terrain Rima Larkin had to negotiate while she completed her biological inventory and assessment of the propsoed uranium mine, and while she and Wick were running from their assailants.
